WELCOME TO 4th GRADE!!!

My name is Christina Wastella and I am the fourth grade teacher at Albion Elementary. I am originally from Long Island, NY where I graduated from Adelphi University with a master’s degree in elementary education. My husband and I have been living in Maine for the past 12 years. For the past 10 of those 12 years we have resided in Albion and are raising our two boys here. We are very busy here in fourth grade. As fourth graders we do a lot of hard work, but we will also be sure to make some time for fun! This year in literacy you can look forward to learning things such as building your fluency (reading faster), literary elements, writing stories, and expanding your vocabulary to impress your parents. You will also learn to become a more independent reader and writer.

In math we will be focusing on recognizing patterns, multiplication and division up to four-digits (YIKES!), adding and subtracting fractions, and interpreting decimals.

For social studies, we will be learning about the constitution (particularly the Bill of Rights), a lot of geography (location of continents and states) with a focus on Antarctica, and how economy impacts a region.

In Science we will study how erosion has impacted the Earth's surface, how animals and plants are different and alike, dig for fossils, and think like engineers!
